Accounting works differently in every industry.
A restaurant, a construction company, and a property-holding company face different problems and use different revenue accounts. These pages show how AndCompta fits each case, including the invoice and journal entry it would actually generate.
What really changes from one sector to another
Double-entry bookkeeping is the same for everyone. Everything around it changes: the IGI rates you apply, the accounts you use most, the documents your customers require, and how often you file.
A restaurant issues hundreds of small receipts and almost no invoices with an NRT. A property company issues fewer, much larger invoices, sometimes with withholding. A construction company bills through progress certificates and carries guarantee retentions. All three sets of books balance in the same way, yet otherwise look very different.
Each industry page covers the cases specific to that activity: the rates that commonly arise, frequent errors, and what AndCompta prepares for you. If your activity is not listed, the closest match will still give you useful guidance.
About the sectors
My activity is not listed. Can I still use it?
Yes. These twelve pages cover the activities we see most often; they are not a closed list of supported industries. The product is configured around your entity, IGI rates, and chart of accounts—not around an industry label.
I have two different activities. How should I manage them?
Keep one set of books and separate the detail by account or cost centre, if you use them. If the activities belong to two different companies, each company is a separate entity within the same account and their data is never mixed.
How do I know which IGI rate applies?
The rate depends on the nature of the goods or services, not on the industry. These pages cover common cases, but the applicable classification is the one published by the Department of Taxes and Borders and linked from our IGI guide.
