How to close the financial year

Closing is not a button you press in December. It means checking that the year's activity is complete, posting the necessary adjustments, and locking the period against further changes.

How it works4 steps
  1. Reconcile everythingReconcile the bank accounts, classify expenses, and review outstanding invoices.AndCompta does it
  2. Make the adjustmentsPost depreciation, accruals, deferrals, and reclassifications as explained manual entries.AndCompta does it
  3. Close the periodOnce closed, the period no longer accepts entries. Reopening it is an explicit, recorded action.AndCompta does it

As is usually done

The work happens in January or February, often with the accounting firm requesting documents by email while the books remain open during preparation.

With AndCompta

You reach the close with reconciled banks and classified expenses, leaving only the genuine closing adjustments. When the period closes, it stays closed.

You do this part: A person exercising accounting judgement decides the closing adjustments. AndCompta requires them to be addressed before closing, but it does not invent them.
