Credit note

The tax document that fully or partially corrects an invoice already issued.

It references the original invoice and records what is being corrected, preserving the audit trail.

An example

If an invoice contains the wrong amount, issue a credit note that references it.

The typical mistake

Cancelling the original and reissuing it under the same number. That breaks both the series and the audit trail.

How it appears in AndCompta

An issued invoice is never edited. A separately numbered credit note references it, and the period's IGI register adjusts accordingly.
