Exemption
A transaction that falls within the tax but is exempt from being charged under the applicable rule.
An exempt transaction is not the same as an out-of-scope transaction or a zero-rated transaction, even if the amount charged appears identical. The distinction matters because it can affect the right to deduct input tax.
An example
The invoice for an exempt transaction must state the exemption and its basis.
The typical mistake
Treating an exemption as a 0% rate. They do not behave the same in the accounts or for deduction rights.
How it appears in AndCompta
Mark the exemption on the line and the invoice states the reason. The taxable amount is registered as exempt for the period register and, where relevant, the pro-rata calculation.
